Smailagic`s career path has been one of considerable interest since his early days. Known for being drafted into the NBA, he spent two seasons with the Golden State Warriors, offering glimpses of his potential on the biggest stage. Following his time in the United States, he returned to Europe, first playing for Partizan Belgrade from 2021 to 2024, and most recently with Lithuanian side Zalgiris Kaunas.
