The 2024 CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour has begun, and one nation has wasted no time in asserting its dominance on the women`s side. Türkiye`s women`s team has secured victories at the first two stops of the season, establishing a clear lead early in the competition.
Two Wins, Two Events for Turkish Women
Building on their success at the opening event in Bakuriani, Georgia, just a week prior, the Turkish women`s squad delivered another winning performance on home snow in Erzurum. This back-to-back achievement means Türkiye currently holds a perfect record of two wins from the two women`s European Tour events contested so far.
The Erzurum women`s final featured a notable appearance from Romania. Proving to be something of an `outsider` contender, the Romanian team impressively navigated the bracket, overcoming three separate Turkish teams on their way to reaching the final and claiming a well-earned second place.
Men`s Tour Action and Podium Finishers
The men`s tour has also seen spirited competition across the initial events. In Bakuriani, Italy claimed the top spot after defeating Poland in the final. Hosts Georgia delighted the home crowd by securing third place, besting France in the bronze medal match.
The Erzurum event for men saw France emerge victorious, overcoming another Polish team in their final encounter. On home soil, Türkiye`s men`s team secured a podium finish by defeating Italy in the match for third place.
Looking Ahead: The Final Stop
These early tournaments set the stage for the remainder of the season. It`s worth noting that Bakuriani previously hosted the first-ever U20 European Snow Championship, highlighting its role in the sport`s development.
The CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour isn`t finished yet. The season`s final event is scheduled to take place in Prato Nevoso, Italy, from March 29th to 31st, promising a conclusion to the tour high up in the Italian Alps.
