According to sources, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson is showing excellent form in training as he prepares for his highly anticipated bout against Rashad Evans.
The former UFC stars are set to face off in a ring on April 12 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, in what is expected to be the final chapter of their rivalry.
Their first encounter dates back to 2010 at UFC 114, where Evans secured a victory by unanimous decision.
Since then, Jackson has been eager for a rematch, and now he will have the opportunity to avenge his prior loss.
Shawne Merriman Impressed by Rampage Jackson’s Sparring Performance
Shawne Merriman, a former NFL star and combat sports promoter with Lights Out Sports TV, which is collaborating with Signature Punch Promotions and ICS (Influencer Crossover Series) for the Jackson vs. Evans fight, has expressed his excitement for the match.
Merriman, known for his powerful playing style and determination, is eagerly anticipating the clash between these two icons of combat sports.
Having trained alongside Jackson, Merriman has witnessed firsthand the intensity and skill Rampage is currently displaying.
In an exclusive interview, Merriman shared, “It’s interesting because I have close relationships with both fighters. They were surprised to learn the event would be on Lights Out Sports TV. Everyone involved is very enthusiastic.”
“These guys are still in great condition. I actually trained with Rampage several months ago in Long Beach at Antonio McKee’s gym.”
“I can attest to Rampage’s current sharpness because I saw him sparring directly. I know he’s in good form.”
“Rashad has consistently maintained his fitness. In the decade I’ve known him, I’ve never seen him out of shape.”
“It’s going to be a competitive fight, making it hard for me to choose a side as I know them both well. However, from our conversations about this event, their primary goal is to deliver an exciting show for the fans. They even discussed it on their podcast, deciding to create a memorable event together. I believe they are set to accomplish just that.”
Shawne Merriman Recounts Thinking He Might Face Randy Couture
With a background in boxing, Merriman eagerly embraced the opportunity to train in MMA. Jay Glazer from Fox Sports facilitated his training with Randy Couture.
At that time, Couture was the reigning UFC champion, widely regarded as one of the most formidable individuals.
Consequently, it’s understandable that Merriman was hesitant to spar with him.
Merriman has since recounted the moment he believed he might have to fight Couture.
