Peyton Manning Joins Denver NWSL Expansion Team Ownership

Football News

Peyton Manning, the legendary NFL Hall of Fame quarterback and two-time Super Bowl champion who famously played his final four seasons with the Denver Broncos, is adding another title to his career: team owner. He has officially joined the ownership group of the new National Women`s Soccer League (NWSL) expansion franchise based in Denver, which is scheduled to kick off its inaugural season in 2026. Manning`s investment places him among a growing number of high-profile individuals supporting women`s soccer, following in the footsteps of his brother, Eli Manning, who is a minority owner of Gotham FC.

In a statement released by the team, Peyton Manning shared his enthusiasm: “It`s a real honor to be a part of something so meaningful to the Colorado community. I`m proud to support the growth of women`s sports and excited to help build a club that our city and our state can rally behind.”

Manning joins a diverse and expanding ownership collective for the Denver NWSL team, spearheaded by controlling owner Rob Cohen. The investor roster also includes notable figures such as Ariel Investments` Project Level, Jon-Erik Borgen, Kaia Borgen Moritz, Neelima Joshi, Dhiren Jhaveri, Molly Coors, and Olympic gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin. The group has clearly outlined a commitment to establishing one of professional soccer`s most inclusive and community-focused organizations.

The Denver franchise was officially granted its expansion rights in January 2025, reportedly for a record fee of $110 million. The team plans to start playing in a temporary 12,000-seat venue located in Centennial. A permanent stadium with a capacity of 14,500 seats is expected to be completed in Denver by 2028.

Rob Cohen praised Manning`s addition, stating in a release, “Peyton`s legacy as a champion and a leader is second to none. His impact on Colorado sports is unmatched, and we`re incredibly proud to have him as a partner. He brings passion, insight, and deep local roots — all of which will help us shape the future of Denver NWSL.”

Since retiring from his playing career in 2016, Peyton Manning has maintained a prominent presence in the sports and entertainment world. He founded Omaha Productions, the company known for the popular `ManningCast` alternative broadcasts on ESPN, and regularly appears on television in various hosting and endorsement roles. Manning also remains connected to football through activities like mentoring young quarterbacks and participating in league events, alongside his expanding involvement in business ventures and philanthropic efforts.
