MMA Stars Smash Through Cage in Post-Fight Brawl After Showboating Goes Too Far

MMA News

Post-fight celebrations in MMA can sometimes get out of hand, and this event is a prime example.

We`ve witnessed numerous MMA fighters engage in showboating over the years. Remember when Israel Adesanya mimicked humping his opponent in a UFC title fight? Or Michael Chandler`s impressive back-flips after a knockout victory against Tony Ferguson?

Typically, fighters might celebrate a win with a shout or by climbing the cage, understandable after a demanding training camp.

However, Max Holzer, an OKTAGON competitor, took post-fight celebration to an extreme.

Max Holzer Recreates Israel Adesanya`s Infamous Celebration

Holzer, an undefeated featherweight prospect from Germany, secured his 11th victory by submitting Deniz Ilbay at OKTAGON 69. He defeated Ilbay with a rear-naked choke in the fourth round.

Following his victory, Holzer kissed the back of Ilbay`s head.

But he didn`t stop there. Holzer then performed a pelvic thrust towards Ilbay, mirroring Israel Adesanya`s controversial move against Paulo Costa at UFC 253 in 2020.

Still on the ground, a furious Ilbay reacted by chasing Holzer and throwing strikes as Holzer exited the cage.

Holzer ended up falling out of the cage as officials restrained Ilbay.

Fans online commented on the chaotic scene, with one jokingly stating Holzer`s celebration surpassed even the infamous Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor post-fight incident.

For comparison, here is a reminder of Israel Adesanya`s original celebration.

Max Holzer`s Viral Antics Before the Fight

Max Holzer is known for his personality even before this incident.

Prior to his OKTAGON 69 fight, Holzer made his entrance carried on the shoulders of someone dressed in an inflatable dinosaur costume.

Fans were not surprised by his antics, with one commenting they “knew he would deliver” entertainment.

In another fight last year, Holzer walked out in a Buzz Lightyear costume to the song `You`ve Got A Friend In Me` and proceeded to win by choke.
