Michael Bisping has strongly criticized Vitor Belfort, the fighter whose head kick resulted in Bisping losing sight in one eye.
The celebrated British MMA icon achieved UFC champion status despite having limited vision.
Michael Bisping`s serious eye problems began after his fight against Vitor Belfort in January 2011.
During the match, Belfort, nicknamed ‘The Phenom’, landed a high kick that dropped Bisping, before finishing the fight with ground strikes.
Michael Bisping Declares MMA’s ‘Biggest Jerk’
In a recent hour-long discussion with former boxer Carl Froch, Michael Bisping was asked to name the ‘biggest jerk’ in MMA.
Initially, ‘The Count’ mentioned Tim Kennedy, another former opponent.
However, he quickly changed his mind, pointing out that Vitor Belfort, who caused his partial blindness while using performance-enhancing drugs, was far more deserving of the title.
“Who else is there?” Bisping questioned after initially talking about Kennedy.
“Oh, Vitor Belfort. A Brazilian steroid user. You know, one of the biggest cheaters in the sport.
“I have never used steroids in my life. When you enter the cage or ring to fight someone, it should be about skill and who is the better fighter, who has trained harder.
“Now we have contracts and drug testing and all of that. But more importantly, as a man, you should aim to win fairly. Train hard, work in the gym – but this guy was taking every steroid imaginable.
“So, forget Tim Kennedy. Vitor Belfort is the biggest jerk in MMA.”
Michael Bisping Dismisses Street Fight Speculation
Bisping and Froch also joked about a hypothetical street fight between them.
“I’d just take you down. You’d be on your back in seconds,” the UFC Hall of Famer joked.
Froch suggested he could keep Bisping at bay with his jab, but Bisping, in a friendly manner, made it clear that it would be an uneven match.
Bisping added: “Look, this isn’t a competition, but I will say this…
“You might be surprised [laughs]. I was known for my striking back in the day, Carl. Come on, buddy.”
