Formula 1 has announced a significant 10-year contract extension for the Miami Grand Prix, guaranteeing its place on the championship calendar through the 2041 season.
The Miami event`s original agreement was set to conclude at the end of 2031. However, organizers successfully negotiated this new, extended deal prior to the upcoming race weekend, which will be the fourth time the Grand Prix has been held since its inauguration in 2022.
F1`s presence in the United States continues to expand, with two other races currently held there: the long-running event in Austin and the newer addition in Las Vegas. Austin`s contract is valid until 2032, while the Las Vegas Grand Prix organizers are optimistic about securing a renewal as their current deal expires at the end of the current year.
The newly agreed contract for Miami stands out as the longest commitment for any Formula 1 race globally, uniquely extending into the 2040s.
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, praised the Miami Grand Prix, stating it has rapidly become “one of the most important and spectacular events on our calendar” and a true reflection of F1`s spirit and ambition in the US. He described the extension to 2041 as a “strategic milestone of enormous importance,” solidifying the sport`s footprint in America and strengthening ties with its growing and passionate fanbase.
Domenicali highlighted Miami as a “truly global sporting hub, energetic, dynamic and culturally vibrant,” expressing gratitude to Stephen Ross and Tom Garfinkel for their vision and commitment in elevating the Grand Prix to a world-class event.
Tom Garfinkel, Managing Partner of the Miami Grand Prix and CEO of the Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium (where the track is located), echoed Domenicali`s sentiments. He referred to the 10-year extension as an “extraordinary milestone” achieved through the efforts of the team, strong partnerships, community support, and the growth of F1 in the United States.
Garfinkel noted that receiving such a long extension after only three races signifies that “the Miami Grand Prix is here to stay.” He thanked Domenicali and Ross for their belief in the project, reiterating the initial goal of creating a world-class race that embodies the vibrant, inclusive, and culturally significant spirit of Miami. He concluded that the long-term commitment allows for continued innovation, enhanced fan experience, and deeper community impact in South Florida.
