Lionel Messi once again found the net for Inter Miami on Sunday, scoring the equalizing goal in the first half of their MLS match against Toronto FC. His goal was a fantastic left-footed strike.
During stoppage time at the end of the first half, Telasco Segovia skillfully navigated through Toronto`s defense and passed to Messi near the penalty area. Messi controlled the bouncing ball, turned his body, and powerfully shot with his left foot into the bottom right corner of the goal.
This impressive goal secured a 1-1 draw for Miami.
Prior to the goal, there was a potential handball by Miami`s Gonzalo Lujan, but it wasn`t reviewed by the referees.
Messi`s goal was a quick response to Toronto`s opening goal just three minutes earlier, scored by Federico Bernardeschi. Despite being near the bottom of the Eastern Conference, Toronto played competitively in the first half.
In the first half, Miami had more shots (12-8), but Toronto created more dangerous scoring opportunities, with higher expected goals (1.88 to 0.49). Earlier in the half, a Messi goal was disallowed due to a foul.
This was Messi`s third goal in the MLS season and his sixth across all competitions.
