Lewis Hamilton apologized to his Ferrari team, acknowledging that his performance was `not good enough` after finishing ninth in qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Hamilton`s difficult start to his first season with Ferrari continued during Saturday`s qualifying at the Bahrain International Circuit. He finished significantly behind his teammate Charles Leclerc, who qualified third.
Ferrari introduced an upgraded floor in Bahrain, but it appeared to offer little improvement for Hamilton. He qualified behind drivers from teams like Alpine and Williams.
After apologizing to his team over the radio, Hamilton stated that his poor performance was solely due to his own driving.
He reiterated that he is not performing at the required level and needs to improve.
When questioned if this was his lowest point since joining Ferrari, Hamilton admitted it was definitely not a positive feeling.
Despite the setback, Hamilton remains optimistic about the race, hoping to finish in the top five.
Commentator Karun Chandhok noted that Hamilton`s dejected interview was reminiscent of the previous season, where he often struggled in qualifying compared to his then teammate at Mercedes.
Chandhok remarked that Hamilton`s comments sounded very similar to his frustrations from last year, questioning if age might be affecting his qualifying pace, especially considering the significant gap to Leclerc.
