Lance Stroll Confirmed for Canadian Grand Prix After Injury Layoff

Aston Martin Formula 1 driver Lance Stroll is cleared to compete in his home event, the Canadian Grand Prix, this weekend. He had previously withdrawn from the Spanish Grand Prix due to an injury.

The team announced two weeks ago, on the Saturday evening in Spain, that Stroll would not race on Sunday. This decision was taken after he experienced pain in his hand and wrist, which required surgery, despite having qualified 14th for that race.

According to the team, the discomfort was linked to a procedure Stroll had undergone prior to the 2023 season, following a wrist injury sustained in a cycling accident.

On Wednesday, Aston Martin officially confirmed Stroll`s fitness and readiness to return to competition in Montreal this weekend.

Expressing his eagerness to race at home, Stroll commented: “I am excited to get back behind the wheel with the team for my home Grand Prix this weekend.”

He added: “I was always going to fight hard to be ready to race in front of the Montreal crowd. I`m feeling good after my procedure and put some laps in at Paul Ricard this week to prepare.”

An official statement from Aston Martin read: “Lance had a successful medical procedure to resolve the symptoms he has been experiencing and completed some laps in an old F1 car at Paul Ricard earlier this week.”

The team`s statement concluded: “Lance is feeling fit and healthy, and is excited to compete in front of his home crowd.”
