The Formula 1 season continues with round three at the legendary Suzuka circuit in Japan, a favorite among drivers. This race marks the first leg of a triple-header before subsequent events in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
Suzuka`s high-speed, flowing layout provides a stern aerodynamic test for cars, challenging drivers with famous corners like the Esses, Degners, Spoon, and 130R.
In qualifying, Max Verstappen of Red Bull secured pole position, ahead of McLaren`s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. Ferrari`s Charles Leclerc and Mercedes` George Russell round out the top five.
Japanese fans are particularly excited this year with Yuki Tsunoda`s move to the main Red Bull team. He replaces Liam Lawson, who returns to Racing Bulls after two races. Lawson outqualified Tsunoda, taking 14th place.
Despite being overtaken by Piastri in the last race, Norris leads the championship standings, eight points ahead of Verstappen, who is closely followed by Russell and Piastri.
Ferrari aims to rebound after a disappointing race, where initial Sprint success was overshadowed by a double disqualification in the Grand Prix.
Suzuka Circuit: A World-Class Track
Suzuka Circuit is renowned as one of the most iconic Formula 1 tracks globally. Its unique figure-of-eight design and challenging corners have made it a favorite since its F1 debut in 1987.
Historically held towards the end of the season, Suzuka has been the stage for numerous championship-deciding races, including memorable clashes between Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost. Now in an earlier April slot, the race coincides with Japan`s beautiful cherry blossom season.
Weather Forecast
Rain is expected overnight before the race, which could be beneficial after grass fires caused interruptions during practice and qualifying sessions.
