Jake Paul believes a highly anticipated “super-fight” between Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou could be the perfect conclusion to both fighters` storied careers.
The internet personality turned boxer holds an equity stake in the PFL promotion, where Ngannou currently competes. Paul has expressed admiration for Jones, the reigning UFC heavyweight champion, who has indicated his willingness to face Ngannou.
Francis Ngannou has consistently shown interest in fighting Jones, but making the bout a reality would require an unprecedented collaboration between the UFC and PFL. While the PFL is reportedly open to the idea, securing an agreement from UFC President Dana White appears to be a major hurdle.
Jake Paul Supports the Potential Matchup
Recently, Jon Jones stirred controversy by seemingly overlooking a fight with interim champion Tom Aspinall in favor of a different challenge. He took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to call out Francis Ngannou. Ngannou is widely considered the “lineal” UFC heavyweight champion, having vacated the title upon his departure from the organization.
The prospect of this super-fight has captivated the MMA world, especially since Jones`s recent remarks. His callout followed comments from Ngannou`s coach, Eric Nicksick, hinting that Ngannou might be open to returning to the UFC for the right opportunity.
Jake Paul, leveraging his PFL investment, shared his thoughts on social media, strongly endorsing the cross-promotional showdown.
“The perfect final dance for the two greatest MMA heavyweights of all time,” Paul wrote. “Jon Jones wants it. Francis Ngannou wants it. Big fight for the sport. Big fight for the fans and Big business. Who doesn’t want it?”
Francis Ngannou Responds
Reacting to Nicksick`s comments, Jones posted on X: “I’m hearing Francis Ngannou is still interested… now we’re talking. That’s a real super fight. A clash of champions, not just hype.”
“He held the UFC belt, I’ve defended mine for over a decade. Two kings from different roads. Not just one legend facing a mouth that’s hot right now, but two real legacies colliding. That’s the kind of fight that actually adds something special to my story. At least from my point of view.”
Ngannou acknowledged the challenge of dealing with separate promoters, telling Jones: “You take care of the UFC, I’ll take care of the PFL, and we’ll finally find out who’s the KING OF THE HEAVYWEIGHT.”
