According to a competitor of Dillon Danis, the scheduled fight between Danis and Tony Ferguson is unlikely to occur due to a significant obstacle.
These two experts in Brazilian jiu-jitsu are set to face off in a lightweight match on May 24th in Los Angeles, California, USA.
The matchup is quite interesting, pitting a fighter once considered among the world`s best against a controversial grappler looking to prove his worth.
Many are wondering if Tony Ferguson has declined enough for Danis to win. While there`s curiosity surrounding this fight, not everyone believes it will actually take place.
Gordon Ryan Expresses Skepticism About Danis vs. Ferguson
Dillon Danis has recently been criticizing KSI after KSI withdrew from their planned fight. Adding to Danis`s challenges, his upcoming bout with Tony Ferguson is also being questioned by his former jiu-jitsu opponent, Gordon Ryan.
During his appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience Fight Companion,” Gordon Ryan, along with Brendan Schaub and Eddie Bravo, stated his disbelief that Danis could fight Ferguson at lightweight.
Ryan commented, “I saw the fight poster, it must be fake. There’s absolutely no way he can make lightweight.”
Schaub clarified that lightweight in GFL is 165lbs, slightly above the traditional 155lbs.
However, Ryan remained unconvinced, saying, “There`s no way he can even reach 165lbs. He struggled to make 170lbs when he was preparing for ADCC.”
Schaub suggested there`s flexibility in weight agreements, mentioning that fighters can agree on a comfortable weight. If Ferguson suggested 168-170lbs and Danis agreed, they could fight at that weight.
Ryan countered that Danis had trouble even making 170lbs during his time in Bellator, often fighting at catchweights.
Joe Rogan`s Reaction to KSI Fight Cancellation
KSI decided to pull out of his fight with Dillon Danis, citing a serious illness, which Danis dismissed as a `cold`.
This decision surprised Joe Rogan, who expressed his bewilderment on his podcast, particularly during the UFC London broadcast.
