Strongman Eddie Hall has recently joined the ongoing discussion about a hypothetical scenario involving 100 men against a single gorilla.
This viral debate began after a question was posed on X (formerly Twitter), capturing worldwide attention regarding who would prevail in a fantasy fight between a massive silverback gorilla and a group of men.
The topic ignited considerable debate. Some argue that facing a gorilla would be a suicidal undertaking for humans, citing the animal`s immense strength (able to lift ten times its body weight), powerful bite (1,300 PSI), and speed (up to 25 MPH), among other formidable capabilities.
Conversely, others believe that collective strength in numbers could be sufficient to subdue a gorilla. Notably, undefeated UFC Middleweight Bo Nickal expressed willingness to be one of the 100 men for a potential video exploring this concept.
Outside of a hypothetical prime Mike Tyson, few individuals seem eager to face a gorilla alone.
However, what about a two-on-one scenario? Eddie Hall, the 2017 World`s Strongest Man and a recent entrant into MMA`s super-heavyweight division, believes he could succeed under these specific conditions.
Two Eddie Halls vs. a Silverback Gorilla?
A renowned strongman, Hall recently transitioned to mixed martial arts (MMA), securing a victory in his debut fight against five-time World`s Strongest Man Mariusz Pudzianowski via TKO in just 30 seconds.
However, Pudzianowski, who weighed 267 lbs for his recent bout, is significantly smaller than a silverback gorilla.
Hall commented on his personal experience, stating, “I’ve seen gorillas in person, in close-up scenarios, and they are scary things.”
He added, “An adult silverback weighs between 300 and 500 pounds…”
Hall then compared his prime weight to the gorilla`s, saying, “Forgot me now, me as a prime strongman, I was 430 pounds. I think one [of me] would get mauled to death,” Hall continued.
Elaborating on his two-on-one theory, he stated, “I think two Eddie Halls at the prime with a combined weight of 860 would dominate the gorilla.”
He described his strategy: “I would just pin it down and just hammer-fist it to death. I think two big Eddie Halls would do the job,” Hall claimed.
Eddie Hall`s Prime Weight Comparable to a Gorilla`s
The idea of two prime Eddie Halls overpowering a silverback gorilla surprised veteran MMA reporter Ariel Helwani.
Helwani reacted, stating, “I thought you were gonna say maybe, like, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 [Halls].”
He followed up, “You’re saying just two Eddie Halls?”
Hall clarified, “At my biggest… I’m at 150 kilo now, my biggest was nearly 200. At my biggest, I think two Eddie Halls would dominate a silverback gorilla.”
During his strongman peak in 2017, Hall, known as ‘The Beast,’ weighed 434 lbs (197 kg). As noted earlier, adult silverback gorillas typically weigh between 300 and 500 lbs.
At the height of his strongman career, Hall famously lifted a deadlift world record of 1,102 lbs (500 kg), a feat that he has stated nearly cost him his life.
