Harry Kane`s long wait for a major trophy might soon end. His move to Bayern Munich nearly two years ago has been rewarding in many ways, according to the striker.
Bayern Munich is likely to win the Bundesliga title, which would address criticisms about Kane`s legacy as a top goalscorer without major silverware. However, at 31, Kane says his pursuit of trophies isn`t the only thing driving him.
“People talk a lot about trophies, but whether I win one or twenty, it won`t change how I think,” Kane stated in an interview. “Every day, I aim to be the best person, teammate, and player. I feel I`m at my peak and want to play at this level as long as possible.”
Kane`s success in the Bundesliga after his Tottenham Hotspur career is not surprising. He has scored 33 goals in 38 games for Bayern this season. Kane believes his 2023 transfer has helped him grow as a player, especially in competing for titles. Bayern is also in the Champions League quarterfinals, aiming for the final in their home stadium.
“Competing consistently at the highest level in important games is what sets players apart,” Kane explained. “At Tottenham, we had periods of high-level competition, but also periods where we weren`t. Playing against the best teams and defenders consistently and performing well is what I find most satisfying.”
Kane also mentioned that Bayern manager Vincent Kompany has helped him improve.
“I`m very impressed with Kompany as a tactical coach. Our high-pressing, man-to-man style, combined with ball possession, intensity, and counter-pressing, is a great and attacking approach.”
“He`s always been a leader, and that translates to his coaching. He treats everyone equally, offering honest feedback, which players respect. I feel I`ve improved working with him, and he`s added to my game, which is all I can ask for. I enjoy working with him.”
