The Champions League anthem is known worldwide, but before the Aston Villa versus Paris Saint-Germain Champions League quarter-final game at Villa Park, there was a funny incident. Instead of the Champions League music, the stadium mistakenly played the Europa League anthem.
As the teams were getting ready on the field, the Europa League anthem played loudly in the stadium. Some players looked around confused by the wrong song. However, quickly, the correct Champions League anthem was played before the important match began.
Here`s a video of what happened:
These kinds of errors are not common, and it was definitely a funny and unexpected moment. It`s not the first time something like this has happened, similar to an incident with Uruguay at the 2016 Copa America.
Regarding the game, PSG has only lost four games this season and is undefeated in their last seven games after losing to Liverpool. Achraf Hakimi scored for PSG early in the match, just 11 minutes in. Aston Villa`s goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez, couldn`t stop PSG`s cross, and they were punished for it. Nuno Mendes scored another goal for PSG in the first half, putting them in a strong position to advance to the semi-finals.
