An Everton football supporter has been given a lifetime ban from the Premier League club after he filmed himself stealing food at Goodison Park during a stadium test event.
The incident occurred at the new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium in Liverpool during a trial event. In a video recorded by the fan, he can be seen ordering food. While the stadium worker turned to prepare a coffee, the man grabbed the food he had already been given and said “adios amigo” before walking away without paying. He then bragged about being the first person to “do a Toby” (slang for theft) at the new stadium.
Everton confirmed that the 62-year-old individual received an indefinite ban and his club membership was revoked. The theft happened on February 17th during a test event where 10,000 fans watched Everton`s Under-18s team play Wigan.
The new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium will become Everton`s home ground starting from the 2025-26 season, replacing Goodison Park, their home for the past 133 years. The new stadium will have a capacity of 52,888.
Merseyside Police acknowledged being aware of the incident, but stated that Everton was managing the situation. The fan has been asked to donate the value of the stolen food to the Everton in the Community charity.
