Emma Raducanu`s Miami Open match experienced a pause when Amanda Anisimova, a close friend, requested a physio during their game.
Raducanu demonstrated superior play against Anisimova, securing a decisive 6-1, 6-3 victory. She conceded only nine points in the first set on the Butch Buchholz court.

After Raducanu took a 5-1 lead in just over 15 minutes, commentator Annabel Croft noted Anisimova`s negative body language.
Croft commented that Anisimova seemed “all over the place,” “fed up,” and “humiliated” by the situation.
Raducanu`s rhythm was briefly interrupted when Anisimova requested a physio between sets. This developed into a medical time-out, as the physio attended to discomfort in Anisimova`s right arm during their last-16 match.
Anisimova, aged 23, received treatment on her right wrist, an area of previous concern. She had also taken a time-out for blisters in her previous victory against Mirra Andreeva.
During the pause, Croft observed Anisimova manipulating her wrist, indicating potential pain. Croft added that Anisimova appeared “completely all over the place” and seemed lost on how to play against Raducanu in the first set, possibly losing interest.
Croft further noted that Anisimova seemed “totally rattled emotionally,” displaying irritation and rushing through service games without composure.
Despite the medical time-out, Anisimova continued the match. However, Raducanu quickly broke her serve again, securing a dominant win.
Raducanu`s Miami Open journey began with an easy win against Sakaya Ishii of Japan, followed by an impressive victory over eighth seed Emma Navarro. Her round-of-32 match against McCartney Kessler ended as a walkover due to Kessler`s back issue.
This marks the first time Raducanu has won four consecutive matches at a single event since her 2021 US Open triumph.
Raducanu`s quarter-final opponent in her maiden WTA 1000 quarter-final will be either No. 4 seed Jessica Pegula or Marta Kostyuk.
Raducanu`s live ranking has risen to 48th, though her current performance suggests a level significantly higher.
