Emma Raducanu has reportedly seen her £3 million per year contract with Vodafone terminated because she allegedly asked for too much money for renewal.
According to reports, the telecommunications company will not be renewing their deal with the 2021 US Open champion, ending their partnership.
Raducanu, 22, had been earning £3 million annually from Vodafone since signing with them in December 2021.
During the same period, she also secured endorsement deals with major brands like British Airways, Evian, Tiffany, and Nike.
However, the British tennis star has faced challenges with her performance and fitness in recent years.
Vodafone`s decision to end the contract comes after claims that Raducanu “demanded too much money” for a renewal, as reported by the Mail.
In 2024, Raducanu earned a significant £9 million from endorsements, contributing to her total annual earnings of £11 million, positioning her as the seventh highest-paid female athlete globally that year.
Despite the Vodafone contract ending, Raducanu continues to have numerous other endorsement agreements.
Nike and Wilson are reportedly paying her £100,000 each.
Additionally, Raducanu earns £2 million annually from deals with Dior and Tiffany.
She also had a partnership with Porsche, which reportedly became strained in October when Porsche reclaimed the luxury car provided to her.
Raducanu had been using a £125,000 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet for three years.
A source close to Raducanu mentioned, “Emma no longer has a Porsche. They took it back. It used to be prominently parked at her residence.”
A Porsche representative stated, “While we occasionally loan Emma a car, it is on an ad hoc basis.”
Raducanu has been approached for her comments on the situation.
Return to Form After Stalker Incident
Raducanu achieved one of her best performances last month, reaching the quarter-finals of the Miami Open.
Leading up to the tournament, she decided to end her coaching partnership with Vlado Platenik after just one match.
Earlier this year, Raducanu was also a victim of stalking during the Dubai Open by a man described as a “fixated” fan.
Raducanu was reportedly distressed after spotting the stalker early in her match. Her former coach revealed that the individual had followed her for 3,600 miles.
Raducanu identified the man, who had previously approached her, leading to his removal by security and subsequent arrest by Dubai Police. She reportedly became emotional during the incident.
Although Raducanu did not press charges, the man is under a restraining order, requiring him to stay away from her and banning him from future WTA events.
