Eddie Hall Felt ‘Anorexic’ at 334lb Before Quick MMA Knockout

MMA News

Eddie Hall, the former World`s Strongest Man, recently stated that he felt `anorexic` despite weighing a substantial 334 pounds (approximately 151.5 kg) for his mixed martial arts debut last month.

At KSW 105 in Poland, the 2017 champion scored a brutal 30-second knockout victory against five-time WSM champion Mariusz Pudzianowski. Hall weighed in approximately 67 pounds more than his opponent the day before the fight, a weight reflecting significant loss from his strongman peak.

Although 334 pounds is a high weight for a man of his 6`2″ height, this is actually more than 100 pounds less than his heaviest weight during his strongman career. At his peak, he weighed around 440 pounds when he set a world record by lifting over 1,000 pounds.

Eddie Hall Discusses Feeling `Anorexic` and Future Plans

In a YouTube video released after his victory at KSW 105, Eddie Hall shared his future intentions following his successful entry into MMA. He mentioned that his next fight is likely planned for November or December and listed potential opponents.

However, he stated that his immediate plan is to return to weightlifting in the gym to regain muscle mass. He posed the question, “So what’s next for me?” and answered, “I’m actually going to get back in the gym, I haven’t touched any weights for ten weeks.

“I want to get back in the gym and get some muscles back on me because I’m feeling a bit anorexic. I’m doing an arm wrestle against Robert Oburst at the Shaw Classic in the middle of August so I’m going to get some arm wrestling training done and bulk up.

“Then I’m hoping for two things; either I get another fight booked for November or December or I’m going to use that bulk from the arm wrestling to then cut for a body building show. I don’t know which yet, it all depends if a fight promotion comes at me with a good enough deal.”

Using a Carnivore Diet for Weight Cut

In an exclusive interview prior to his fight, Eddie Hall disclosed that he used a carnivore diet during his training camp to lose weight. His diet consisted solely of meat, eggs, and dairy, avoiding fruit to prioritize higher protein intake for strength.

He described the diet favorably, stating, “It’s been a pretty good diet.” He added, “It helped me to maintain all of my muscle mass and I’ve dropped body fat. My energy levels are through the roof, my endurance is insane so that’s pretty much been the diet.

“I’ve not restricted what I eat at all, I just eat meat, eggs and dairy and as much of it as I want. The body fat’s come off. When I started the prep I was 170kg and I’m down to 158kg. I might even lose a bit more and be strict, that would get me to fighting at around 155-156kg.

He concluded, “I feel good and the main thing about it is that with my training it’s not about the weight but how fit I am. Am I doing these four minute rounds and being able to recover within 90 seconds to go again? At the minute, I can say yes. I’ve got no intention to lose too much weight because the cardio is there.”
