Dillon Danis Responds After Tony Ferguson Hints Canceled Fight Could Be Back On

MMA News

Dillon Danis has briefly responded to UFC veteran Tony Ferguson after the latter hinted that their previously scheduled fight might still take place.

The two fighters were slated to headline the initial weekend of GFL events, planned for Los Angeles last weekend. However, the events were canceled over a month in advance, consequently calling off their anticipated bout.

This added to a difficult period for Danis, who was also due to face YouTuber KSI in a boxing match just weeks before the Ferguson fight. Both fights were canceled within days of each other; KSI withdrew citing a severe illness.

Danis and Ferguson Exchange Words as Fight Rescheduling Hinted

Following the cancellation of the first GFL events, it seemed the matchup between Dillon Danis and Tony Ferguson was entirely off. Despite being a somewhat unexpected pairing, it had generated significant fan interest and was set to headline the second night of the planned extravaganza.

However, Ferguson recently took to social media to suggest the fight could still be on. He posted a lengthy, characteristic message on Instagram, writing:

Ahhhh Yes, The Journey Is The Part You Remember Anyways… Ol’e Moose Knuckle Danis Still Gon’Get Demolished. I Know Kung Fooooooooooo. Ahhh Wah Wah Wahhh Waaaaaaaaaaahhhh Zaaaaaahhhh MF’as!!! Act Accordingly & Form Rank B—-es -Champ – CSO – #FightNewsSoon.

Danis quickly responded via his private Instagram account, known as TheMadSamurai. He instructed his followers to “Let him know I’m gonna ankle pick his a–.”

Danis`s Recent Inactivity and Cancellations

Fight cancellations have been a major source of frustration for Danis over the past few years. After suffering knee injuries that kept him sidelined for three years following only two Bellator fights, he eventually returned for a boxing grudge match against Logan Paul in 2023.

He then remained inactive throughout 2024 before agreeing to two separate fights scheduled within less than two months this year. Despite these setbacks, he reportedly maintains an intensive training regimen and recently shared photos from his sessions on his Instagram story after sending his message to Ferguson.

Mams Taylor, head of Misfits Boxing, has publicly committed to arranging another fight for Danis. Responding to a message from the fighter about his recent cancellations, Taylor wrote, “You’ve sure had some bad luck. You’re fighting soon Danis.”
