Dillon Danis has responded to Eddie Hall after the former World`s Strongest Man challenged him to an MMA fight, despite their enormous difference in size.
The controversial former Bellator fighter Dillon Danis has experienced a challenging year, with planned bouts against KSI and Tony Ferguson both being cancelled due to issues with headline events.
However, a new potential opponent has surfaced in Eddie Hall, the 2017 World`s Strongest Man winner, who recently secured a dominant victory over Mariusz Pudzianowski. Hall and Danis have engaged in public disputes before, and with their schedules now potentially open, a fight could become a possibility.
Danis`s Reaction to Hall`s Challenge
Following his swift 30-second knockout win against Mariusz Pudzianowski over the weekend, Eddie Hall used Instagram to name Dillon Danis as the man he wished to fight next. The size disparity is significant, with Hall weighing in at 334lb in his last fight, compared to Danis`s planned weights of around 165lb for Ferguson and 185lb for KSI.
Hall posted his challenge online, stating: “Dillon Danis Next. Sort it out Misfits. Big Love, The Beast.” Danis saw this post and chose to reply from his secondary, private Instagram account, TheMadSamurai, which has significantly fewer followers than his main profiles.
Danis`s concise response was simply: “Why is this fatty calling me out?” This contrasts with his own comments made in a February interview with Ariel Helwani, where Danis expressed interest in facing much larger opponents. He said at the time: “It was 100 per cent legit, it was my idea. He’s big and they couldn’t get anybody to sanction it in MMA… I always wanted to know what it would be like fighting someone that big and see if my jiu-jitsu would work – I’m not scared of losing, if you can beat me then beat me.”
History and Potential Fight Offer
There is some contention regarding the legitimacy of a potential fight offer between Misfits Boxing and Eddie Hall for a bout against Danis. Hall told Helwani weeks after Danis`s comments that Misfits announced the fight couldn`t be sanctioned *before* having any direct talks with him or making an offer.
Hall clarified: “Misfits put that out on Instagram and there were no talks if I’m brutally honest… But I saw that on Misfits and immediately messaged my contact through there and said ‘you’ve got to make this fight happen now’. I’d love to fight Dillon Danis so that may well happen one day, I probably would have fought him if they’d have given me two weeks’ notice.”
