Dutch footballer Zakaria Eddahchouri, who plays for Deportivo La Coruna, is currently under medical observation at a hospital. He sustained minor injuries after falling from a seaside promenade while attempting to take a selfie.
RC Deportivo confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday, announcing that Eddahchouri was being observed at a hospital in A Coruna following an issue that occurred the previous day. According to the club, initial examinations revealed the player had minor injuries and was receiving treatment from the medical team. Deportivo publicly expressed gratitude to the emergency services for their swift response and stated they would provide further updates on Eddahchouri`s recovery.
Local media sources reported that emergency services, including firefighters and an ambulance, were dispatched to the location overnight after receiving information about someone falling onto rocks. Eddahchouri was reportedly rescued with the aid of a ladder before being transported to a local hospital.
Eddahchouri, originally from the Netherlands, joined Deportivo in January. He has since scored two goals in six appearances for the club, which is currently positioned 13th in Spain`s second division. Notably, Eddahchouri had completed a full 90 minutes in their recent match against Granada just hours before the incident.
As of now, specific details regarding the nature of Eddahchouri`s injuries or an estimated timeline for his return to playing are not available.
Deportivo has two remaining fixtures in the Segunda Division season. Their final match is scheduled for June 1st at home against Elche, a team that has already secured promotion to La Liga for the 2025-26 campaign.
