Mixed martial arts icon Demetrious Johnson shared a touching moment via telephone call with street fighter `Death Sentence` following a successful coaching effort that led to the latter`s initial victory.
Widely regarded as arguably the greatest MMA fighter of all time, the legendary flyweight world champion captured gold in the UFC before concluding his remarkable career as the ONE FC Champion last year. Since retiring, Johnson has garnered significant attention by reviewing unusual fights on his popular YouTube channel.
In a recent series featured on his channel, Demetrious Johnson invited Maraji Johnson, known to many by his fighting alias `Death Sentence`, to train with him in preparation for his upcoming Streetbeefs bout. This internet personality is known for his often comical lack of skill inside the fighting area, despite consistently proclaiming himself to be an elite competitor. However, he finally secured his first win last weekend.
Demetrious Johnson Shares Emotional Moment with ‘Death Sentence’ Post-Victory
Unfortunately, Demetrious Johnson was unable to attend the Streetbeefs Scrapyard event in Virginia at the culmination of their `training arc`. The former UFC champion was in the United Kingdom filming with Tom Aspinall and had to receive updates about the fight through a Facetime call.
He was thrilled to discover that `Death Sentence` not only won his fight but also effectively utilized the grappling techniques they had been working on, which contributed to his opponent quitting the match. His rival, `Illuminate the State`, alleged he was hit in the back of the head but refused to continue fighting after a warning had been issued.
Watching from his phone, Johnson connected with his friend via Facetime after the fight, who excitedly announced his win. “You are a warrior, young Mr Death,” Johnson told him, suppressing a laugh, before `Death Sentence` claimed he was now on his way to the UFC.
“Let`s take baby steps,” Johnson responded. “You took out ‘Death Penalty’, who’s next?” `Death Sentence` seemingly expressed a desire to face someone named `Lights Out`, before listing several other names that were difficult to understand.
“Congratulations on your first win,” Johnson told his friend when `Death Sentence` credited the victory entirely to his coach. “All we did was help you out and teach you how to train properly. I can’t wait to see what you’ll do next, so you’ve got to stay focused and keep on training, and next is July.”
`Death Sentence` Trained with Demetrious Johnson Leading to First Win
`Death Sentence` is a popular personality on the Streetbeefs YouTube channel, which boasts over 4.27 million subscribers. Despite his popularity, he had not recorded a victory until he had the opportunity to train and learn from one of the sport`s all-time greats for his most recent contest.

Through several videos posted on his YouTube channel, former UFC flyweight king Johnson dedicated time to training with the backyard fighting star. The two appeared on an episode of Johnson`s `Mightycast`, where the UFC legend made a commitment to his audience.
He promised that if the episode reached over 250,000 views, he would invite `Death Sentence` to train with him for his upcoming fight. The episode far exceeded the target, achieving almost three times that number, leading to their joint training sessions, including a humorous sparring exchange.
