The hypothetical battle between a hundred Daniel Cormiers and a single gorilla has become a topic of debate, even causing a disagreement between the former two-division UFC champion and another notable MMA figure.
This past week, the internet has been captivated by discussions about the number of ordinary men required to defeat a powerful gorilla, with many people sharing their views.
However, while many doubt average individuals could stand a chance against a gorilla, Daniel Cormier (`DC`) is far from average.
Given his renowned fighting spirit and skill, a hundred copies of him would undoubtedly fare much better than a group of untrained people.
Ben Askren Believes 100 Daniel Cormiers Could Defeat a Gorilla
As this debate spread widely, Ben Askren was eager to discuss it with Daniel Cormier.
However, their opinions on the outcome of a fight between 100 men and a single gorilla differed significantly.
During an episode of their show, `Funky and the Champ,` Askren excitedly brought up the topic: “I’m so excited. There’s this thing online, 100 men vs a gorilla.”
Cormier, finding the idea absurd, simply told his friend to “Stop.”
Undeterred, Askren argued: “Everyone is neglecting cardio here. Even dangerous human beings who have trained for this, get tired. I was just doing the math. If a gorilla can kill a human in 15 seconds, 100 humans, that’s 1500 seconds, that’s like 25 minutes. Can a gorilla really fight hard for 25 minutes? No, that gorilla can’t fight hard for 25 minutes.”
The UFC Hall of Famer countered, arguing forcefully: “Every time they’re running at him, he’s like, bang, bang, bang. 100 men have no chance. It will not take 25 minutes. First off, he’s biting, he’s scratching, and he’s slapping the s— out of you.”
Proposing a strategy, the former Bellator welterweight champion suggested: “What if you just run at him, fake, and then run away, and then someone else runs, so he’s always moving, and everyone just evades him, but they’re antagonising him?”
In response, Cormier brought up: “I watched Khabib Nurmagomedov wrestle a bear, and the bear was getting him.”
This didn`t change Askren’s mind. He replied: “I saw Khabib pin that bear,” prompting Cormier to retort: “Yes, but it’s a hard match.”
The former welterweight then shifted the scenario, asking the former UFC heavyweight champion: “How about 100 Daniel Cormiers vs a gorilla?”
Displaying an unexpected lack of confidence, the legend admitted: “I’m getting my a— kicked over and over again.”
Showing belief in his friend, Askren encouraged: “Come on, dude, I believe in you.”
Reaching the end of his patience, Cormier exclaimed angrily: “You guys have no idea, it’s like the most ridiculous idea of all time. I can’t believe we’re having this discussion on our show. I’m done with this conversation.”
Refusing to concede, `Funky` confidently stated: “One hundred Daniel Cormiers are beating a gorilla, I’m putting my house on that.”
Finally fed up with the topic, Cormier snapped: “Shut up, Ben.”
Although the powerful fighter isn`t sure he`d do well against a gorilla, one might argue he`d stand a chance if he got as angry as he did after Khabib Nurmagomedov pranked him.
Eddie Hall Weighs In on How Many of Him Could Defeat a Gorilla
While Cormier expressed doubts about his own chances against a gorilla, strongman Eddie Hall demonstrated significant self-confidence regarding the same hypothetical scenario.
Although not as naturally deadly as a wild gorilla, the 2017 World’s Strongest Man is undeniably among the planet`s most powerful individuals.
Fresh off a decisive first-round victory over Mariusz Pudzianowski at KSW 105, he currently has strong momentum.
The renowned strongman has now shared his opinion on how many versions of himself would be needed to defeat a gorilla.
