British Grand Prix 2025: Dates, Schedule, and How to Watch the F1 Race at Silverstone

F1 News

The 2025 Formula 1 season reaches its midpoint with the arrival of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. This highly anticipated event promises excitement as the championship battle intensifies.

Driver Outlooks

Fresh off a victory in Austria, Lando Norris arrives at his home race in Silverstone with a strong chance for his first British GP win. He aims to further close the 15-point gap to current championship leader Oscar Piastri. The McLaren teammates battled intensely in Austria, with Norris emerging victorious. He now seeks back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Max Verstappen trails Piastri by 63 points following an incident with Kimi Antonelli on the opening lap of the previous race. He will need a significant performance turnaround at Silverstone to revive his title aspirations.

All eyes will also be on Lewis Hamilton as he competes in his first British Grand Prix as a Ferrari driver, a year after his memorable win here. Hamilton holds a remarkable streak of 12 consecutive podium finishes at Silverstone and will look to continue this run, securing his first podium with Ferrari in the process.

George Russell has faced unfortunate luck at his home circuit, with his best result being fifth in 2023. He hopes Mercedes can recapture the victorious form they showed in Canada.

The Silverstone Circuit

The 3.661-mile Silverstone circuit is a favourite among drivers due to its challenging high-speed corners, such as Copse, Maggotts, Becketts, and Stowe. It also offers ample overtaking opportunities along the Wellington and Hanger Straights, with chances even in `The Loop` early in the lap.

Silverstone holds historical significance as the host of the first-ever F1 World Championship event in 1950 and has remained a staple on the Formula 1 calendar since.

Weather Forecast

As is often the case with the British Grand Prix, rain is in the forecast. Current predictions suggest showers could affect qualifying on Saturday and the race on Sunday. Temperatures are expected to drop to around 22°C from Wednesday onwards, though Friday`s practice sessions are anticipated to be dry.
