Grigor Dimitrov found himself in a hilariously uncomfortable situation with fans ahead of the Miami Open.
As part of a Miami Open social media event, the 33-year-old Bulgarian tennis player shared a cable car ride above Hard Rock Stadium with a couple of fans.

During the ride, the fans playfully asked Dimitrov which female tennis player he would choose to marry.
The former world No.3 responded, jokingly taken aback: “Marry? You`re really putting me on the spot here.”
The fans, not letting him off easily, playfully pressed him, “You didn`t answer the question.”
Dimitrov then quipped, “Yeah, because I`m not ready for marriage.”
Changing the subject, Dimitrov turned the question back to the fans, asking, “Who do you think would be a good fit for me to have dinner with? Let`s hear it.”
One of the fans then suggested, “My favorite tennis player is Maria Sharapova, so maybe…”
It was at this moment that Dimitrov revealed with a smile, “She was my ex-girlfriend.”

Immediately realizing the potentially awkward nature of her suggestion, the fan quickly apologized, saying, “Actually? Sorry to bring that up.”
Dimitrov, taking it in stride, laughed and reassured her, “It`s all good, we`re on excellent terms!”
The fan followed up, “So that was a good pick, honestly?”
Dimitrov, beaming, confirmed, “It`s a great pick. Great pick.”
Dimitrov and Sharapova were a couple from 2012 to 2015.
After their split in July 2015, Dimitrov later entered into a relationship with singer Nicole Scherzinger.
That relationship lasted until 2019.
Maria Sharapova retired from professional tennis after the 2020 Australian Open.
Sharapova, 37, has been dating British businessman Alexander Gilkes since 2018.
They welcomed their son in July 2022.
