Andy Murray, the 38-year-old British tennis legend, has reportedly embarked on a new professional path following his recent coaching split with Novak Djokovic.
Murray, known for a remarkable 19-year playing career that saw him win numerous ATP titles, two Wimbledon championships, and a US Open, officially retired from professional tennis in 2024 after competing in the Paris Olympics.
Earlier this year, he made headlines by briefly joining the coaching setup of fellow tennis great Novak Djokovic. Their partnership, however, was brief and concluded amicably earlier this month.
According to reports, Murray is now set to transition into the world of venture capitalism.
He will be taking on a role as an associate partner at Redrice Ventures, a London-based investment firm.
Redrice Ventures holds interests in a variety of sectors, including companies dealing with products like cat food and reusable water bottles, indicating a diverse portfolio.
Murray`s connection with the firm isn`t entirely new; he previously collaborated with them in 2018 as part of a co-investment involving sportswear brand Castore.
Furthermore, Murray already has a portfolio of business interests outside of tennis, including a five-star country house hotel in Scotland, a padel tennis company, and participation in the crowdfunding platform Seedrs.
Reflecting on this new chapter, Murray spoke about the difficulty of stepping away from professional tennis, a sport that demanded his full attention for such a significant part of his life.
He emphasized the importance for athletes to develop other interests after their playing careers end to avoid a sense of emptiness and maintain their identity.
At 38, he noted that retirement spans a considerable time, and he is enjoying the process of focusing on these business projects, which was always part of his post-tennis plan.
Murray attributes his ability to succeed in these new areas to the strong work ethic and unwavering determination he developed during his time as a top athlete.
