Aaron Boupendza, formerly of MLS, has tragically died at the young age of 28 after an incident in China. He fell from the 11th floor of a building. The Gabonese national team officially announced his passing on Wednesday.
At the time of his death, Boupendza was playing for Zheijang FC in the Chinese Super League. Zhejiang FC expressed their condolences in an Instagram post, stating that he passed away at his residence. An investigation is currently underway, and the club has pledged full cooperation with the authorities.
Boupendza played for FC Cincinnati for parts of two seasons in MLS. In 2023, he played 10 games, scoring six goals. The following season, he scored two goals in 14 appearances. His contract with the club was terminated in August 2024.
FC Cincinnati released a statement on social media regarding Boupendza`s death.
In their statement, FC Cincinnati expressed their sadness at the tragic death of former forward Aaron Boupendza in China. They extended heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones, acknowledging him as a cherished member of the FC Cincinnati family.
Boupendza also proudly represented his home nation of Gabon in 35 international matches, scoring eight goals, including one at the 2016 African Nations Championship.
